Time Away!!

Why is it that as moms and wives we all feel guilty about taking any time for ourselves?  Whether it's a night with the girls, or just going to watch a movie or get your nails done.  We do so much all the time for others and then when we actually have two minutes to do something for ourselves we feel guilty that we aren't with our children or hubby. 

Well I am trying to put that guilt aside and do a little more for me.  That may sound selfish but I know that I am a better mom and wife when I am not sleep deprived and stressed.  So if and hour away can destress then I am going to take it. 

I am very excited for a whole weekend with my girlfriends in June in Walla Walla.  I will be very pregnant by then but the time with the girls and relaxation will be wonderful. 

This weekend we got a couples weekend away at the beach in Westport, WA.  I planned the trip as part of Trent's birthday present but in the end I think I have enjoyed it as much if not more than he has.  We got here Friday night watched a movie and went to bed.  Saturday we drove around and found a hole in the wall place for a very yummy breakfast.  Then we came back and went to the beach which was insanely windy and cold but we found a couple of sand dollars so worth it.  Then we went back into town and walked around looking in the little shops.  Trent had the wonderful idea of going to the top of this tower that looks like a light house right on the shore.  It was so windy we almost go blown away, but it was amazing to see the huge breaking waves.  After that we went over to the Grays Harbor light house which unfortunately wasn't open so we just got pictures.  And then we drove over to North Cove.  They call it the disappearing coast because the coast line is eroding away so fast that it's taking houses and roads with it.  It was amazing and crazy to see all at the same time.  Then it was relaxing watching movies for a couple hours.  Finishing off the night with a very amazing dinner at Odysseus...a little Greek and Italian restaurant owned by a cute couple.  The wife sent me home with a free Baklava dessert for the baby....so so sweet.  We will definitely be going back there.  We will go pick up our little angel tonight.  I have missed his sweet little face and funny little comments but it has also been so nice to just have some time for us.  To not have a little one in tow and to be able to do anything really we wanted with out worrying about naps and kid things.  I love outings with my son and can't wait to bring him back here but it was a great weekend kid free.  Well I guess not totally kid free since I have a tiny one in my belly but mostly.

I have also realized I think it's just as good for Leyton to be away from us.  He got to spend the weekend with his Grammy and Papa.  He is also hanging with his aunt and uncle which he loves. He has been so happy and spoiled I am sure.  He got to go to an aquarium touch tank.  This is something in all the visits to Bellingham we have never done.   He gets a different experience away from us the same as we do.  I remember when I was a kid and got to do things with out my parents.  Sometime those are some of the best memories with family.  So in not so many words it has been a destressing and great weekend for all of us!!!
